The stew cooks the meat or fish in its own broth, with 75% main ingredient and 16–17% crude protein. The gravy drops to 54–59% and increases moisture to 85%: it is designed as a complement, not a main meal.

Cooking broth is the juice released by the ingredient itself, preserving its aroma without added thickeners. Jelly gives a firmer texture that some cats prefer, so both textures feature in the range.
