Understanding their food
is caring for them too.
Clear answers on ingredients, food types and how to bring Zen into their routine.
What is inside
Why does Zen use fresh ingredients?
In the recipes that include them, the fresh meat or fish is cooked in its own juices and avoids intermediate processing steps. Each product’s composition states the ingredient and its exact percentage.
What is the Zen Commitment?
In the dry food ranges where it applies, Zen declares a minimum of 33% raw, fresh meat or fish as the first ingredient and over 80% animal protein across the protein content. Always check the specific recipe.
What does Good + Feel Complex mean?
It is the way of combining animal protein, vegetables, fibre, oils and micronutrients so that each ingredient plays a role in the overall balance of the recipe.
How is product quality controlled?
Zen states that it runs internal checks on raw materials and finished product, plus external analysis of samples from its factories.
The right recipe
Does more protein always mean better nutrition?
Not necessarily. What matters is the right amount for their stage and condition, the source and the digestibility. If there is illness or a clinical need, choose with the vet.
What does “complete and balanced food” mean?
It means it can supply the necessary nutrients on its own when given as directed for the stated stage or condition. A complementary food, like many snacks, must accompany a complete base.
Why combine dry and wet food?
Mixed feeding adds variety of texture and wet food contributes to daily water intake. Add both amounts and adjust the total ration so as not to overfeed.
What is the difference between Grain Free and Low Grain?
Grain Free contains no cereals; Low Grain uses a limited amount of selected cereals, such as brown rice, depending on the recipe. Neither option is universally better: it must match the animal’s needs.
A gradual change
How to switch to Zen?
Zen suggests a gradual four-week change: 25% Zen in the first week, 50% in the second, 75% in the third and 100% in the fourth. Watch how they respond and ask the vet if there is digestive sensitivity or a clinical regime.
- 25 %Week 1
- 50 %Week 2
- 75 %Week 3
- 100 %Week 4
Can I mix a veterinary diet with other foods?
Not without professional advice. Adding food, snacks or supplements can undo the nutritional aim of a veterinary diet. Ask before combining anything.
