Complete food for neutered adult cats of all breeds with sensitive stomachs. Salmon replaces chicken as the main protein source, useful for digestive or skin sensitivity associated with poultry proteins.
Fresh salmon 35% (after extrusion), dried salmon 32%, peas, maize gluten, brown rice, maize, hydrolysed salmon, animal fat, apple, potato, beetroot, yeasts, lignocellulose, inulin, hydrolysed yeast cell walls (source of MOS) 0.10%, citrus extracts, yucca schidigera.
Most cats have had less exposure to salmon protein than to chicken, reducing the likelihood of a reaction. Added natural lignocellulose fibre and the prebiotics MOS and inulin help stabilise intestinal transit.
The Zen commitment
Ingredients you can recognise
Every ingredient has a purpose

Cats are particularly reluctant to change foods: they may refuse the bowl as soon as they notice something different. Go more slowly than with a dog and never remove the previous food abruptly.
Mix the kibble well so your cat cannot separate it and eat only its usual food.
Half and half. If food is left in the bowl, extend this stage by two days.
By now your cat should accept the new flavour without hesitation.
Transition complete. Keep the water bowl away from the food bowl: cats drink more this way.

It can be, but not always. Occasional vomiting of hairballs is normal in long-haired cats or during shedding. Frequent vomiting of undigested food, however, often suggests eating too quickly or an intolerance.
If your cat persistently vomits more than once a week, consult your vet before attributing it to the diet.
Chicken is the most common protein in cat food, which is precisely why it is among those most likely to cause sensitisation: the longer a cat is exposed to a protein, the more likely its immune system is to react to it.
Switching to salmon reduces that exposure and often improves both digestion and skin condition.
It is common: domestic cats descend from a desert feline and have a low thirst drive. With dry food, this can increase the risk of urinary problems.
Three things help: keep water away from the food bowl, use wide shallow bowls that do not touch the whiskers, and consider a moving-water fountain, which often increases intake considerably.
Cats are obligate carnivores and, unlike dogs, cannot produce enough taurine themselves. They must obtain it from their diet.
A prolonged deficiency causes serious heart and retinal problems, some irreversible. That is why every Zen Cat recipe contains added taurine, and why cats should never be fed food formulated for dogs.
Zen is distributed through specialist stores, veterinary clinics and authorised distributors. We do not sell online because the right choice depends on your cat’s age, neutering status and any sensitivities.
